The transition from PayPal Subscriptions to PayPal Billing Agreements began on 13th June 2025 and was completed on 19th August 2026. All legacy PayPal subscriptions have now been cancelled.
Since 13th June 2025, it has not been possible to create a new PayPal subscription for Maxer services. PayPal Billing Agreements replaced subscriptions as our supported method for recurring PayPal payments.

What happened to my PayPal subscription?
We began replacing legacy PayPal subscriptions with PayPal Billing Agreements on 13th June 2025. During the transition, subscriptions were cancelled as clients created Billing Agreements or moved to another payment method.
This process was finalised on 19th August 2026, when all remaining legacy PayPal subscriptions were cancelled. There are now no active subscriptions under the previous PayPal subscription system.
You may have received an email from PayPal confirming the cancellation of one or more subscriptions.
The cancellation of a PayPal subscription does not mean that your services or domains with Maxer have been cancelled. It only means that the old recurring payment arrangement is no longer active.
If you already have a PayPal Billing Agreement or another valid payment method on your Maxer account, no action is required.
What do I need to do?
If you previously paid using a PayPal subscription and do not yet have a PayPal Billing Agreement, you can create one the next time you receive and pay an invoice.
You can also choose another available payment method, such as a credit/debit card or Direct Debit.
A PayPal Billing Agreement can cover all eligible services on your account, so you do not need to create a separate agreement for each service or domain.
Why were PayPal subscriptions replaced?
The previous PayPal subscription system had several limitations:
- Each service could require a separate subscription.
- Cancelling or changing a service did not automatically update the associated PayPal subscription.
- PayPal controlled the billing date, which could result in payments being received after an invoice was due.
- A subscription could cover multiple services or domains whose prices changed over time, making payments difficult to manage accurately.
PayPal Billing Agreements provide a simpler and more flexible way to manage payments. They allow eligible invoices to be paid through PayPal without requiring a separate subscription for each service.
Do I need to cancel anything in PayPal?
No. The transition was completed on 19th August 2026, and Maxer has cancelled all remaining legacy PayPal subscriptions.
If you wish to manage or cancel an active PayPal Billing Agreement, you can do so through your PayPal account. Please note that cancelling a payment method or Billing Agreement does not automatically cancel a service or domain with Maxer.
To cancel a Maxer service, please submit a cancellation request through your Maxer dashboard or contact our support team.
What if I received an unexpected or duplicate payment?
If you believe an incorrect or duplicate PayPal payment was made before the legacy subscriptions were cancelled, please contact our billing team with the PayPal transaction details. We will review the payment and confirm how it was applied to your Maxer account.
Any refund request will be reviewed individually, taking into account the service status, account balance and any fees charged by PayPal.
