This article is intended for reseller hosting customers who want to customise the resources and features available to their clients’ cPanel accounts. It explains how to create feature lists and hosting packages in WebHost Manager (WHM), and how to edit or delete them.
Note: Overselling of disk space or bandwidth is not permitted on our reseller hosting platform. Each package’s allocated resources must fit within your reseller account’s total limits.
Step 1: Create a Feature List
Feature lists define which tools and options appear in your clients’ cPanel interface. You can create different lists (e.g., Basic or Advanced) depending on the type of hosting plan.
-
Log in to WHM.
-
In the left-hand menu, go to Packages » Feature Manager.
-
Under Add a new feature list, enter a name (for example Standard or Business) and click Add Feature List.
-
On the next page, select or deselect the features you want to enable.
-
Each checkbox represents a function available in cPanel (such as Email Accounts, Subdomains, or SSL/TLS).
-
You can use the search box to find specific items quickly.
-
-
Click Save when finished.
You can later edit or delete a feature list from the same menu.
Tip: Your “default” feature list applies automatically if no other list is assigned. To restrict features, create a custom list instead of modifying the default one.
Step 2: Create a Hosting Package
Once you’ve created your feature lists, you can define resource limits and assign one of those lists to a hosting package.
-
In WHM, navigate to Packages » Add a Package.
-
Enter a Package Name (for example Basic, Business, or Pro).
-
Under Resources, set your desired limits for:
-
Disk Space Quota (MB)
-
Monthly Bandwidth Limit (MB)
-
Max FTP Accounts
-
Max Email Accounts
-
Max SQL Databases
-
Max Subdomains
-
Max Parked Domains
-
Max Addon Domains
-
Max Quota per Email Address (MB)
-
Maximum Hourly Email by Domain Relayed
(We recommend keeping this within 250/hour per account to comply with mail queue limits.)
-
-
Under Settings, configure:
-
Dedicated IP: Leave unchecked (reseller accounts share the main IP).
-
Shell Access: Leave unchecked (for security reasons).
-
CGI Access: Enable only if required by the client.
-
cPanel Theme: Leave as Jupiter.
-
Feature List: Select the custom feature list you created earlier.
-
Locale: Choose English (default) or another available language.
-
- Click Add to save the package.
Step 3: Edit a Package
If you need to adjust limits or settings for an existing package, you can do so easily in WHM.
-
Go to Packages » Edit a Package.
-
Select the package you want to edit and click Edit.
-
Update any of the following as needed:
-
Disk space, bandwidth, or email limits
-
Number of databases, domains, or subdomains
-
Feature list, cPanel theme, or locale
-
-
Click Save Changes to apply your updates.
Important: You cannot rename a package in WHM. If you wish to use a new name, you must create a new package and assign the existing accounts to it.
Step 4: Delete a Package
If a package is no longer required, you can remove it from WHM.
-
Go to Packages » Delete a Package.
-
Select the package you want to delete.
-
Click Delete to confirm.
Warning:
-
You cannot delete a package that is currently assigned to an existing account.
-
Once deleted, a package cannot be recovered and must be recreated manually.
Step 5: Assign a Package to an Account
When creating or modifying a cPanel account, you can assign one of your predefined packages to it for consistent resource limits and features.
-
Go to Account Functions » Create a New Account or Modify an Account.
-
Select the desired package from the drop-down list.
-
Save your changes.
