Maxer Host offer our free AutoSSL service on all our hosting plans to help you secure all your websites. By default AutoSSL is enabled on every domain name (including all sub-domains) on your hosting account. The AutoSSL system runs automatically every night and it will attempt to issue/renew a new SSL certificate for any websites that do not already have one. You may receive an email notification about a "reduction in coverage" if the AutoSSL service is enabled on a domain name that's pointing to another provider.

If your website is pointing to a third-party provider (Shopify, SquareSpace, Weebly, Wix etc.) then you should disable AutoSSL on the domain names that do not require it, or disable the notifications altogether. This applies if you are using a cPanel hosting account for your DNS and email, but have a website pointed to another provider.

To disable AutoSSL on specific domains or sub-domains:

  1. Login to your cPanel control panel
  2. Navigate to the Security -> SSL/TLS Status page
  3. You'll see a list of all the domains on your account. Simply click the "Exclude from SSL" option beside each domain / sub-domain that points to a third-party provider.
  4. To quickly disable AutoSSL for multiple domains or all domains under your cPanel account, use the checkboxes on the left to select the domains and click the button "Exclude Domains from AutoSSL".

To disable AutoSSL notifications only (but still have AutoSSL run in the background):

  1. Login to your cPanel control panel
  2. Navigate to the Preferences -> Contact Information page
  3. Scroll down to the "AutoSSL Notifications" section
  4. Select "Disable AutoSSL event notifications."
  5. Click on the "Save" button

Similarly, if your email service is pointing to a third-party provider (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho etc.), then you'll need to disable AutoSSL on the mail, autoconfig and/or autodiscover sub-domains that do not require it. Please follow this guide: Disable AutoSSL renewal for email hosted elsewhere (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho, etc.)
